‘The We Conference’ To Unite Socal Women For Personal Growth, Inspiration, Support

Press release from The We Conference | September 13, 2011

Irvine California - The WE Conference is a one-day women’s empowerment (WE) symposium that will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., on the Concordia University campus in Irvine, Calif. The event will include local and internationally known speakers, a variety of performers, a luncheon and exhibitor booths.
“The mission of The WE Conference is to inspire, educate and empower women to fulfill their greatest potential,
- founder and leader, Kaci Christian

“The mission of The WE Conference is to inspire, educate and empower women to fulfill their greatest potential,” explains founder and leader, Kaci Christian. An award-winning television news anchor and reporter, Christian took a break from broadcasting to establish the organization and help women of all ages and backgrounds learn about issues that pertain to them, establish supportive relationships and facilitate positive change in their lives. “We emphasize a holistic approach because I believe true personal empowerment comes when the mind, body and spirit are in balance,” she adds. “All of our speakers and performers are incredible role models.”
When Christian learned that the Women’s Conference, hosted the past few years by former First Lady of California Maria Shriver, had been canceled for 2011, she knew the timing was right to create a non-denominational event that unites women to help transform their lives and find personal empowerment. “Before we can make a positive impact on our world, our country, our states, our communities or even our families, we must first develop that inner sense of personal empowerment, and that is why so many powerful women have joined forces to create this important event,” she emphasizes.
Event highlights include:
Academy Award-nominated actress Lindsay Crouse will speak about finding inner peace in a chaotic world.

A panel of acclaimed nutrition experts and celebrity chefs — including LA’s Santé restaurant dessert chef, Chef Aj (Abbie Jaye), Terces Engelhart (co-founder of LA’s Café Gratitude) and Lauren Von Der Pool, who works with First Lady Michelle Obama to address childhood obesity — will share their views on nutrition and health as they discuss “Nutrition for the Empowered Woman.”

Anti-aging expert Dr. Theresa Dale will talk about reversing the aging process safely and naturally.

Authors (The Feminist Manifesta) and radio hosts, Lily Hills and Karen Hudson will reveal “How to Fire Your Inner Critic.”

Katy Sullivan will inspire with her story about overcoming obstacles. Born without legs, Katy is a Los Angeles-based television actress and a world-class athlete.

Grammy Award-nominated songwriter Harriet Schock (Ain’t No Way to Treat a Lady), Emmy Award-winning writer and musician Tracy Newman and stand-up comic Wendy Hammers will perform.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Junior League of Orange County, the charitable partner of The WE Conference.
The event is fully accessible for people in wheelchairs, and there will be sign language interpreters on hand for the full day.

Registration includes admission to the full day of speakers and performers, a buffet lunch, a participant “goody bag,” access to the vendor exhibit area and free parking.
